Shooting at NIU

Earlier today, while up at the university, I saw this horrific news come over the wire. A gunman at Northern Illinois University, west of Chicago in DeKalb, Illinois, walked into a packed science class, killing 6 people and wounding 15, including the graduate student instructor. I want to express my sympathies for the dead and wounded, and my dismay at yet another school shooting, which remain rare at the college and university level, thankfully, but are not so uncommon in high schools across the country.
