This sounds like a won...Wow, I really <I>did</I> miss out! This sounds like a wonderful event. Sounds like Karlos Carcamo and the other Go North Gallery folks have a curatorial vision worth looking out for. Funny, this puts me in mind of a quote from Q-Tip in the recent <I>Time</I> article, <A HREF="http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1653639,00.html" REL="nofollow">"Hip-hop's Down Beat" </A> by Ta-Nehisi Coates (wow, I remember the days when you'd never see a byline <I>that</I> ethnic-sounding in <I>Time</I>). Q-Tip comments: "When I first signed to Tommy Boy, [the A&R person] would take us to different shows and to art museums...There was real mentorship. Today that's largely absent, and we see the results in the music and in the aesthetic." Yeah, even the most gifted budding organic intellectual needs some mentorship...and from other art/culture heads of color, too.
