You are making me want to crack op...J.

Interesting. You are making me want to crack open some CLR James and look at his ideas concerning intellectuals being elitist . . . a class to themselves, and that that class has to be destroyed in order to make social change happen.

I lived with one of James's understudies in NYC for a couple of years. Man, we will have to talk about those circumstances and what I learned in that space later. All I can say is, DUDE!

And I need to pin down the source where James talked about the dismantling of intellectual elitism.

Do you think Activists and Intellectuals grow on the same tree?

I think that they do if that tree involves self examination and examination of our collective past. But it can only be the same tree if it bears a variety of fruits. Eveyone moves in the world differently.

And I think that after this age of Talented 10ths, Vangaurds of the Proletariats, Surrealist Communal Ex-Chequers, and other marriages of ideology and mass movements the arguements concerning elitism are a bit antiquated. The 20th century has proven the dangers, pitfalls and misconceptions of the self-elected enlightened and the groups they lead.

I like your spin on activism very much. It switches the elitist arguement down to street level. What you do while walking down the street today going to pick up your morning coffee is very much a part of that.

This is a different time than CLR James.Littlemilkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08875308841224185781noreply@blogger.com
