Althought I have read "Drown", Conde's "I, Tituba", "The Salt Roads" and "The Activist", only one of them was assigned reading, and that was after I matriculated into an MFA Program. It's also from a broad span of the African diaspora. I had to take several classes to just hear about writers of African descent from Francophone and South American communities. I'm definitely checking for future lists, John Keene!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11122973.post-1126466978827836172005-09-11T12:29:00.000-07:002005-09-11T12:29:00.000-07:00John, i'll be sure to send you an email. I'm in Performance Studies right now, and yes, the department has definitely changed dramatically over the past four or five years. Kamau is great--he and Manthia were great mentors during my undergraduate years, unfortunately Ngugi left before I had the opportunity to work with him.the young people's professorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13573142086077787404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11122973.post-1126451633983263522005-09-11T08:13:00.000-07:002005-09-11T08:13:00.000-07:00Frank, do send me an e-mail. Both departments have changed quite a bit in the last few years, though I think I saw that Comp. Lit. hasn't. Have you ever taken a course with Kamau Brathwaite? Did you study with Ngugi before he left?

Donald, thanks for the good words and for the travel wishes.John Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08073378940347627766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11122973.post-1126295637511049252005-09-09T12:53:00.000-07:002005-09-09T12:53:00.000-07:00oh--i think i know where.
